The kites always take off no matter what the weather,so there will be plenty to do.In addition to the regular kites,there will be the Japanese fighting kites and a free childrens kite making workshop.
It’s time for this year’s Harbour Festival. The line up looks really good and it’s free. I know I’ll be disappointed to be missing Beth Rowley on Saturday evening. This is an ideal befriending outing as there’ll be something for all age groups and interests (unless the child you’re matched with hates noise or crowds!).

Bristol Fusion Dance will be holding free sessions over the next few weeks which are open to everyone to learn two urban fusion dance routines. In addition to the regular sessions there will be extra classes on:Sunday 6 July, 3-5pm, Easton Community Centre

The dance routines will be performed on Saturday 12 July in the Haymarket in Broadmead at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. All participants are invited to perform and the routines will be rehearsed and taught on the day. The Bristol Listings site maybe useful if you’re looking for something to do for a befriending outing. This is probably more suitable for the older young people as it’s mostly gigs etc. There even seems to be a category for free gigs (although I’m not sure how good the music is…). Dear all,
I have been volunteering for time2share for the past six months. I have met other volunteers during the initial induction, but not since then. I was wondering if anyone was interested in a get together/fun day out with the befrienders/children? We have the Funday/AGM coming up in the first weekend of July, but I’m also thinking of another get together the weekend of the Bristol Balloon festival (which is the 7th-10th August). It should be a fun day out with lots of activities for the children to enjoy – and watch the balloons take off! If anyone is intersted, perhaps we could organize a trip on one of the balloons as well for the children who are interested. Jenny will then put you directly in contact with me to arrange the details.

Find Alfred the Gorilla at Bristol’s City Museum & Art Gallery
One of Bristol’s Museums, Galleries & Archives star attractions- Alfred the Gorilla will be leading the way at Bristol’s City Museum & Art Gallery with the launch of fun signs directing visitors to his home in the World Wildlife Gallery.
‘Where is Alfred the Gorilla?’ is one of the most frequently asked questions at the museum so, as a response, the famous ape will be seen in a variety of cheeky poses directing visitors to his display.

Family Fun Days on the Netham are open access, this means everybody can come and go as they please.
The activity is not a childcare service.

The farm provides an excellent opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about farming and to become actively involved in the production of their food. Animals on the farm include a variety of goats, sheep, pigs, cattle and poultry.
They work closely with local schools, taking groups on tours of the farm, explaining about recycling, the environment, animals and how food is produced. Information and worksheets are available, and we can supply fertile eggs and incubators for use in classrooms.
The community gardens are made up of plots where local residents grow their own vegetables, fruit and flowers. There are communal areas with flower gardens and an ornamental pond. The horticultural centre includes a greenhouse, polytunnel and cold frames.

This will be an occasion to celebrate 10 years of the Vassall Centre Trust when we will rejoice in the success of the Centre and of disabled people in many spheres of life. They want to welcome as many people as possible to share our entertainment, such as comedy from the TV personality; Mat Fraser, Bristol’s own Concorde Wheelchair Dancers, the BBC Returner’s Orchestra and much more. They will also have art and photography exhibitions on show with artists as diverse as Ben Loader, Shirley Britton and the collective inspirations of Artists First and Art and Power. They are delighted that a surprise special guest will open the event for us. Something not to be missed!
Those who have already been to the Vassall Centre will know that it is a barrier-free building and therefore suitable for everyone. They have arranged additional facilities on this day which will include Personal Assistance, BSL interpreters and audio describers.

As part of a national promotion to raise the awareness of the Inclusive Fitness Initiative, Horfield Leisure Centre as an accredited Inclusive Fitness Initiative site will be putting on a number of sessions open to both Juniors (11 – 15) and adults (16+) along with FREE supervised gym sessions for adults to use the cardiovascular, resistance and balance equipment during the week.
